Detention II is the final in a series of four drawings. In making these drawings I was interested in two ideas. The first was how something that does not have a physical presence--in this case the wind--can be given the illusion of physical presence by temporarily being captured in the sail. Both the wind and the sail are altered by one another's presence.

The second idea which I explored in this final drawing is an expression of the inner tension between obligation and desire.
